Here’s how we’ll create real, radical change for our city:
1. Food Justice and Community-Owned Solutions
• Launch community-owned grocery stores in underserved neighborhoods.
• Expand urban agriculture and community gardens in partnership with frontline organizations.
• Partner with schools and healthcare providers to offer nutrition education.
2. Youth Development and Restorative Justice
• Expand the Summer Youth Employment Program to create more job opportunities.
• Transform schools into community hubs for social services and family support.
• Support restorative justice programs to build healthier learning environments.
3. Environmental and Housing Justice
• Invest in energy-efficient upgrades for aging homes.
• Ensure new builds meet high sustainability standards.
• Create green jobs in lead remediation and brownfield cleanup.
4. Economic Justice and Cannabis Industry Pathways
• Partner with frontline organizations to create training programs for the cannabis industry.
• Provide grants and low-interest loans to Black- and Brown-owned businesses.
• Streamline permitting and licensing to support small businesses.
5. Community Safety and UBI Expansion
• Expand Rochester’s UBI pilot program to reach more families.
• Invest in violence interruption programs like the Peace Collective.
• Create living-wage jobs and affordable housing to stabilize families.
